“Azerbaijan is our brother, and no one doubts that. We are truly one nation, two states. Especially after the successful 44-day operation, we and our Azerbaijani brothers have become one. Turkey felt deeply all the suffering of Azerbaijanis for many years. For 30 years the OSCE Minsk Group and other organizations did not do even 30 minutes’ worth of work to free Azerbaijan’s lands from occupation. Despite over a million refugees, the Khojaly genocide, the occupation of 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory, no one lifted a finger. But Azerbaijan is not alone. The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan assembled under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev put everything in its place in 44 days”, Akar said.
The minister pointed out that the ties between the two countries had been expanding since the Second Karabakh War.
“The two armies conduct joint exercises, work together in the defense industry. We act as one army,” he added, stressing that “the cooperation between the two countries is not directed against a third state. Rather, it is for the security of the South Caucasus.”
